CONTENT CREATION GUIDE

Content Creation.

Content that performs is built for the feed it lands in: a hook in the first seconds, native vertical framing, captions for silent viewing, and a plan that turns one shoot into weeks of posts.

The overview

Think in systems, not single posts. Pick three to five content pillars (recurring themes your audience cares about), turn them into repeatable series, and post on a cadence you can sustain. Consistency beats volume.

One shoot day should feed a month. A single event or interview can become a hero film, 6–12 short vertical clips, photo carousels, quote graphics, a blog post and a newsletter feature. Plan those outputs before the shoot so the crew captures vertical framing, B-roll and stills on purpose.

Each platform rewards different behavior, but all of them reward attention: people who watch to the end, share with a friend, save or comment. Upload natively instead of posting links, open with the point, and design for viewers who watch with the sound off.

On social, real beats polished. Behind-the-scenes moments, employees and founders speaking in their own words, and creator-style clips often outperform ads. Save the cinematic polish for hero films, paid campaigns and the website.

FOR PRODUCERS & CREW

Technical deep dive.

Specs, settings, standards and current tools. Facts that change are dated and sourced.

Platform formats (October 2026)
  • Vertical 1080 × 1920 (9:16) is the default for Reels, Shorts, TikTok and mobile LinkedIn; keep text and faces inside the center safe zone, clear of the top and bottom interface.
  • YouTube Shorts can run up to 3 minutes for vertical or square uploads since October 15, 2024.
  • Instagram lets eligible accounts post Reels up to 20 minutes (December 2025), but recommendations to non-followers reportedly stop at 3 minutes; Trial Reels test a post with non-followers first for accounts with 1,000+ followers.
  • LinkedIn video: native MP4 (H.264/AAC), vertical recommended, up to 15 minutes from desktop; under 30 seconds works best for awareness.
Hooks and retention
  • The first 1–3 seconds decide the scroll: open on the payoff, the problem or a striking visual, with on-screen text that states the promise.
  • Change something every few seconds on short form (a cut, a punch-in, B-roll, a graphic) to hold attention without feeling frantic.
  • Burn in styled captions for silent viewers and upload a caption file too, for accessibility and search.
  • End with one clear call to action or a seamless loop; skip long logo outros on social.
Discovery and search
  • Social SEO: platforms transcribe speech and read on-screen text and captions, so say and show the keywords people search for.
  • YouTube Test & Compare lets you test thumbnail variations and keeps the one with the best watch-time share.
  • Generative engine optimization (GEO): AI assistants cite pages with clear answers, transcripts and structured data, so publish transcripts, FAQs and summaries alongside video on your own site.
  • Originality matters: platforms demote reposted clips and other platforms’ watermarks; export clean masters for each platform.
Workflow
  • Content calendar by pillar and platform; monthly batch shoots; reusable templates for titles, captions and lower-thirds.
  • Capture for every crop: shoot 4K horizontal with a marked vertical safe frame, or run a dedicated vertical camera alongside the main camera.
  • Repurposing map: one keynote becomes a recap film, 8 clips, 3 carousels, a blog post and a newsletter feature.
  • Measure monthly: 3-second hold, average view duration, retention curve, shares or sends, saves, click-through rate and conversions. Make more of what works.
Rights and disclosure
  • Business accounts should use commercially licensed music libraries; trending sounds are often licensed for personal use only.
  • Paid partnerships need clear disclosure (#ad or the platform’s paid-partnership label) under FTC endorsement rules.
  • Label realistic AI-generated or altered content where platforms require it.

CLIENT FAQS

Questions we hear most.

How often should we post?

As often as you can sustain with quality for 90 days. For most organizations that is two to four short videos a week plus one longer piece a month.

Do we need to be on every platform?

No. Choose the two or three where your audience already spends time, and do them well.

Can you turn our event into social content?

Yes. We plan vertical clips, recap reels and photo carousels into the event coverage, and can deliver same-day highlights.

Should we use trending sounds?

Only ones licensed for business use. Platform commercial libraries are the safe choice for brand accounts.

What local content performs best right now?

Behind-the-scenes clips with local food, music and neighborhoods, plus quick reaction clips around big sporting weekends. Short vertical cuts posted the same day travel furthest.

Can you turn our event into posts while it is happening?

Yes. A dedicated content shooter can deliver vertical clips and photos during the event, so you post while people are still talking about it.

Should we post during game time in Columbus or Atlanta?

Avoid kickoff and the final quarter of big games, when feeds are flooded. Post before tip-off or the morning after, when people are scrolling and reliving the weekend.
